The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS set a blistering 6min 47.3sec lap in the hands of Lars Kern, with Nick Tandy also breaking the previous record having flown in from COTA’s World Endurance Championship round.
The 700hp flat-six bi-turbo GT2 RS proved more than 25sec faster than the GT3 version of the new 911, and is 10sec faster than the marque’s 918 hypercar. Porsche also claims five laps broke the 6min 50sec barrier. It means Lamborghini’s spell as fastest is brief, shaving 5sec off the Performante’s record. The NIO’s outright record still stands – just.
