The Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 'Monza'

Amalgam Collection, renowned for producing the world’s most meticulously crafted large-scale model cars, has unveiled two 1:8 scale model and figure pairings celebrating the legendary Tazio Nuvolari, widely regarded as the greatest racing driver of the pre-war era.

The launch coincides with the 82nd running of the Monaco Grand Prix, paying tribute to Nuvolari’s legacy at one of motorsport’s most iconic venues.

The new collection features two historically significant vehicles: The Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 ‘Monza’ that secured victory at the 1932 Monaco Grand Prix and the Bugatti Type 59, which Nuvolari drove to fifth place in the 1934 race.

Each model is paired with a highly detailed figure of Nuvolari, digitally sculpted and 3D printed before being hand-painted by expert Venetian artists.

The sets are available in both pristine pre-race and weathered post-race finishes, with each edition limited to just 28 pieces, priced at £22,835 each.

Every model in the series is the result of over 5,000 hours of development and more than 500 hours of assembly.

Amalgam utilised original CAD designs derived from digital scans of the actual cars: chassis 2111043 for the Alfa Romeo and chassis 59122 for the Bugatti.

The cars are part of fashion icon Ralph Lauren’s private collection.

Measuring over 52cm in length, with driver figures around 20cm tall, each model is constructed from thousands of precision-engineered components, including castings, photo-etchings, and CNC-machined metal parts.

A removable engine cover reveals intricate mechanical detailing, while the Bugatti Type 59 model benefits from input by a Bugatti historian to ensure historical accuracy in paint and finish.

“These new Tazio Nuvolari Figure Editions celebrate two of the most iconic Grand Prix cars ever raced, and the fearless brilliance of the man who drove them,” said Sandy Copeman, founder of Amalgam Collection.

“These are not just scale models, they are deeply researched and exquisitely executed tributes to two mechanical masterpieces and one of motorsport’s greatest heroes.”
