After a late safety car five-time Bathurst 1000 winner Craig Lowndes led in his Ferrari from the Mercedes of Thomas Jäger, winner of last year’s event. Behind them Will Davidson, in another Mercedes, was holding third ahead of the McLaren of Shane Van Gisbergen.
