Verstappen realises the only way to up his Fantasy points versus McLaren is to simply make Monza shorter

The temperature’s rising and the walls are closing in as the dust clouds swirl all around you.
Try not to get too flustered though, because it’s a cool head in the Land of Fire that will count this weekend in F1 Fantasy.
If past races – and some eventful free practice sessions – are anything to go by, then the 2025 Azerbaijan GP should be chaotic at the very least.
Therein the drama and confusion lies the chance for big F1 Fantasy points, and Motor Sport is on hand to help you snare them.
Make sure you mark out your heroes and cross out the zeroes by reading on below.
McLaren came good again in Italy (surprise, surprise)
McLaren
Heeded Motor Sport’s F1 Fantasy advice so far this season? You’ll be sitting pretty right now if so.
A 248-point haul in Italy means our current total is 3551, ranking us 495 out of 31k+ players in the Motor Sport league (not that we’re gloating).
The ever-reliable Oscar Piastri scooped up 50 points with the DRS boost.
Second-half-of-the-season star Gabriel Bortoleto took home 13 points by coming home eighth, while Isack Hadjar clocked just one less for rising to tenth from 16th on the grid.
Liam Lawson and Carlos Sainz’s less successful weekends saw them score just six and three Fantasy big ones respectively.
However, it was the constructors’ spoils that most benefitted our team.
McLaren clocked a second and third in the GP to snare 97 Fantasy points, but Motor Sport correctly predicted that Ferrari would bounce back from a poor Zandvoort, which it did with a score of 67.
Avoid the Scuderia at your peril
Ferrari
2025 F1 Fantasy king Oscar Piastri ($27m) is a dead cert for your team. He’s scored the most F1 Fantasy points out of anyone (559), had the largest race average score (34.94) and is now owned by 40% of players.
Two others who should also be on your list are Isack Hadjar ($6.3m), currently performing better than drivers more than twice his valuation and Gabriel Bortoleto ($5.7m).
Our team selection (detailed below) doesn’t leave us with a massive budget, but Liam Lawson ($5.3m) has the same car as 2025 breakout star Hadjar, so surely he’s better for a few points than either Alpine who looked hopeless in Baku practice.
The same goes for Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard has had an appalling season, and if he wants to be really worried should check out his F1 Fantasy value, which has plummeted to $5.1m.
Still, he’s got the same car as the brilliant Alexander Albon, so the potential is there.
Ferrari has scored the second-most Fantasy points this season behind McLaren, so it makes clear sense to pair them for your constructors.
We’d advise to hold on to those chips until the next sprint.

Many believe that Ducati dominates MotoGP thanks to gadgets like mass dampers, ride-height adjusters and downforce aero, but its biggest advantage may be its in-depth tyre analysis, assisted by MegaRide’s latest gizmo
No one in MotoGP has more work to do right now than Yamaha, which is developing an all-new V4-powered motorcycle, while continuing development of its inline-four YZR-M1, because it’s not…
Something remarkable happened during yesterday’s first pre-2025 MotoGP tests at Barcelona. It wasn’t Gresini Ducati’s Alex Márquez going top, nor was it his older brother Marc’s first outing on a…
