Next year, Grand-Am and the ALMS will combine under the banner of United SportsCar Racing, bringing together the two major sports car series in North America.
While the ALMS has essentially been run to ACO rules, Grand-Am has its own, running the unique DP (Daytona Prototype) class. In Europe the series gets little coverage, so here’s some highlights from Barber Motorsports Park last Sunday.
One feature of American racing that sometimes gets overlooked is the sound: their racing V8s are a rasping, screaming treat. A lot of North America’s great road courses are also under-rated, partly because there are so many that international racing never finds its way to them. Barber, in Alabama, is definitely one of those.
So enjoy Max Angelelli and Jordan Taylor winning in Wayne Taylor Racing’s Corvette.
