Belgrade Usce 1749

Belgrade-Usce

International motor racing returned to Belgrade from 1967-69 in the form of the European Touring Car Championship.

International motor racing returned to Belgrade from 1967-69 in the form of the European Touring Car Championship. This was on a new parkland circuit at Ušće across the River Danube from where the 1939 Grand Prix had been held three decades before. Crowd control was rudimentary with spectators liable to cross the track on a whim or sit on the straw bales that lined the road. A policeman and woman were injured when a driver lost control in 1968.
