The suburb of Bouzaréah overlooking Alger was chosen to hold the Grand Prix d’Algerie as the final race of the 1934 season. MotorSport described the course as “unusually difficult, and corners, ascents and descents abound throughout its length of 8.100 kilometres.” Scuderia Ferrari sent two “P3” Alfa Romeos, but it was the works Bugatti T59 of Jean-Pierre Wimille that won both heats and on aggregate at an average speed of 61 mph.
