Croix-en-Ternois is a tight and twisting circuit south of Calais that hosted European Formula 3 Championship rounds in the 1970s and 1980s. It was also occasionally used by Formula 1 teams for testing prior to Monaco because of its succession of slow corners. But the track is basic and lacks both the length and facilities required to stage modern international events. It was acquired by F3 driver Patrick Aubreby in 2000 and it was redeveloped a decade later.
