This quarter-mile paved oval was built outside Birmingham, Alabama in 1958 and hosted NASCAR’s top division for the only time two years later. Ned Jarrett was successful that day although it was notable for three Petty’s – Richard, Lee, and Maurice – finishing in the top ten. Closed in 1983, “The South’s Action Track” reopened five years later as Sayre Speedway and remains operational at the time of writing.
