New South Wales Government opened Eastern Creek International Raceway on 10 November 1990, with promotion handled by the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club. It was venue for the Australian Motorcycle Grand prix from 1991-96 and welcomed the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport on three occasions during the first decade of the new Millennium. The venue was renovated as Sydney Motorsports Park in 2012. That included an extended Brabham Circuit, although the original 2.443-mile circuit – now renamed after 1987 500cc world champion Wayne Gardner – remains the preferred circuit layout.
