The Jacksonville Motor Club organised a four-day meeting on the Florida town’s Pablo Beach in the spring of 1911 which mixed races and speed record attempts. Postponed by 24 hours due to poor weather, the westerly winds and rough state of the sand prevented attempts on the kilometre record. Racing was held on a temporary five-mile course with Lou Disbrow’s Pope-Hartford successful in the 300-mile “log race” and the open 100-mile event that was later included in the retrospective AAA National Championship records.
