Formula 1 announced a new ten-year deal for Madrid to hold the Spanish Grand Prix from 2026 on 23 January 2024, ending Barcelona’s tenure that dates back to 1991. Jarno Zaffelli’s Studio Dromo designed a hybrid circuit that combines the public roads in the grounds of the IFEMA exhibition centre in the northern suburbs with a purpose-built section next to Real Madrid’s training centre. Dubbed the Madring, the signature corner is the 24-degree ‘La Monumental’ which is the longest banked curve on the Formula 1 calendar.
