The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a pristine and demanding road circuit set in undulating countryside near Lexington, Ohio. It suffers from being too narrow but was a regular autumn Champ Car fixture as soon as the late Jim Trueman (owner of the championship winning Truesports team) bought it in the early 1980s. The race was switched to the rival IndyCar Series in 2007 and remains on that calendar. Teo Fabi scored Porsche's only Champ Car win here in 1989. Michael Andretti barrel-rolled into Turn 4 in 1998, and Adrian Fernandez also crashed here in 2001, hitting the barriers with almost unabated speed. Both men were lucky to escape injury.
