Federal agents found an illegal moonshine still under Turn 3 in September 1967 with the promoter arrested but found not guilty on 12 December 1968. “One of the most well-built stills ever operated” according to Peach County Sheriff Reggie Mullis was accessed via a trap door in a ticket booth, 35ft ladder and 125ft tunnel. The paved track was originally listed as 0.5 miles but remeasured as 0.5479 miles during 1969.
