Dog Track Speedway is situated to the north of Moyock on the North Carolina/Virginia state line. It opened in 1960 as a quarter-mile dirt oval and was extended to 0.333 miles and paved in the winter of 1963/64. Ned Jarrett secured his second NASCAR title here by winning a race-long duel with Bobby Isaac in the 1965 championship finale. It closed at the end of 1966 due to falling attendances.
