The permanent Autódromo de Punta Fría had long since closed when Piriápolis held an annual race from 1994 on a narrow street circuit with the startline and pits on the Rambla de los Argentinos. The circuit was named after 1950s racing driver Asdrúbal Bayardo for its final edition in 2011.
