The inaugural Grand Prix de la Marne took place on the roads near Beine-Nauroy, ten miles east of Reims in 1925. The race would become a major international speed week at Reims-Gueux but the original event was an obscure national affair. Pierre Clause’s Bignan led the ten lap race (136.7 miles) throughout to win at an average speed of 63.6 mph. The race relocated to Reims-Gueux in 1926.
