The Autódromo Regional del Nordeste was established on low ground to the north of Resistencia in 1979. Since renamed Santiago Yaco Guarnieri, its location means the track is prone to flooding which has caused race meetings to be abandoned. The track is too short to host Argentina’s top Turismo Carretera series although the Sud-Am Formula 3 Championship visited on two occasions in the 1990s. It was renovated in 2017 as a staging post for that year’s Dakar Rally.
