Originally named Autódromo El Zonda, this permanent road course was built in the rocky crater of an extinct volcano, some 2,500ft above sea level. It features fast sweeping corners and a crossover at the northeastern end of the course. Opened on 8 October 1967, it held the third round of the following year’s international F2 Temporada series, which Ferrari’s Andrea de Adamich won to clinch the title.
