The Circuit du Val de Vienne is a technical national venue that opened in 1990. Slow and medium-speed corners proliferated the original layout although the left-right Pif-Paf chicane was bypassed in 2008. That refurbishment helped achieve FIA Grade 2 status so the range of categories could be expanded. Originally run by the local council, GT team owners Jack Leconte and Jacques Nicolet won a 20-year contract to operate the circuit in January 2012.
