This 18-mile temporary road course inland from Helsingborg hosted the 1933 Swedish Summer Grand Prix. The very narrow straight at Södra Vram contributed to a tragic opening lap when Börje Dahlin’s Mercedes SSK crashed into a ditch. His unfortunate riding mechanic Erik Lafrenz was thrown out and killed when hit by the Ford Special of Olle Bennström, which crashed into a house which caught fire and burnt down. Bennström suffered concussion and a total of seven cars were eliminated in the pile-up. Of those to avoid the carnage, Count Antonio Brivio’s Scuderia Ferrari Alf Romeo 8C “Monza” beat the similar car of Whitney Straight by 2min48sec. The race was not repeated.
