Air

The 1982 Championship meetings of the Helicopter Club of Great Britain were both public occasions, one as part of the Colt Helicopter Fair at Cheltenham and the other at the International Helicopter Exhibition at the Army Air Corps Headquarters, Middle Wallop. Both provided excellent entertainment, but sadly this will not happen in 1983, for the HCGB has decided that its championship contests shall be private and confined to members only. This is rather a shame, for precision flying is a very skilful business indeed, and a delight to watch. However, there must be all manner of insurance problems when a number of rotorcraft are brought close to a gathering of spectators, and we can appreciate the reasons for the reversion to private competitions.
