Festival's themes

Mercedes-Benz’s centenary and a pageant marking the 50 years since Ferrari’s maiden GP victory are the key themes of the ninth Festival of Speed in Goodwood Park, guaranteeing a bevy of stars and cars on 6-8 July.

Other anniversaries celebrated under the event’s evocative title ‘The Will to Win’, include 90 years of the Indianapolis 500 and the Brabham marques 40th birthday, both of which will also pull in marvellous entries.

A Ferrari single-seater class should attract cars spanning Froilan Gonzalez’s British GP-winner of 1951 to reigning World Champion Michael Schumacher’s F1-2000. A popular new departure this year will be a Superbike section, showcasing the 1980s and ’90s. Britain’s newlyretired multiple world champion Carl Fogarty is set to play a starring role. MP
