I-mile, 1-mile and kilometre and for the f.s. kilo, and mile have been set by motoring journalist Fritz Busch, driving his own car. The highest speed recorded is quoted as 159.81 m.p.h. and it seems that Patsy Burt’s records in this class with a turbo-charged Mercedes-Benz 220D saloon, established at Elvington, have been substantially beaten. Busch used the VW test track at Wolfsburg.
