The biggest, loudest and thirstiest racers are taking steps to pre-empt ‘green’ criticism. The Orwell Super Sports Cup series, which features 8-litre McLaren and Lola sports cars, is going green by linking up with CO2 Balance, a company that offsets carbon emissions by planting trees. Each car’s CO2 emission is assessed and the appropriate number of trees planted. Cars will display a sticker to show that they are now carbon-neutral. Next rounds are the Jim Clark Revival (Hockenheim April 2729), Assen (May 12/13) and Brands Hatch (June 29-July 1).
