VSCC Herefordshire Trial

The VSCC started its 1996 trials season with the Herefordshire Trial on February 17. A good start, the weather not too cold and the gales subsiding beforehand, for the 104 entries. Hamish Moffatt had been out fixing the "sections", with enough hills to delete any whose condition on the day made them inadvisable. This left a dozen good but comparatively easy ones, reported as enjoyable. "Royal...

Air A Mild Mystery

Having got over a phobia I had as a boy, that if I took too great an interest in aeroplanes this might detract from my enthusiasm for cars (earlier I had dreaded becoming a teenager, in the belief that then all I would require from life would be playing football, which proved far from the case), I pursued both interests without anxiety and contributed to motoring and aviation Journals. VSCC Light Car Welsh Week-End

True to tradition, the VSCC lightcarists, joined by a number of Edwardian brethren and the Collings' veteran Mercedes and Darracq, journeyed to Mid-Wales on April 7th / 8th for their DTs, trial and annual dinner. Out of a full entry of 50 drivers and half-a-dozen reserves, eight were using b.e. tyres, 24 scorned the new-fangled FWB, and 19 placed their faith in Austin 7s, of which one saved...
