A section devoted to old-car matters The V.S.C.C. Presteigne Rally (October 5/6th) The annual Vintage S.C.C. Presteigne Rally has a tradition dating back to pre-war days and this year the pilgrimage into wild wet Welsh Wales again took place and the old cars were once again given the freedom of Presteigne. A very big entry had been received, numbering 59 for the Sunday trial alone, which, in...

Veteran Edwardian vintage

A section devoted to old-car matters In cold but dry weather the V.S.C.C. ran off its annual Silverstone driving tests, taking an entry of 68 cars through eight manoeuvres, some of which involved a considerable amount of high-speed reversing, which broke the back axle torque-arm of A. D. Jones' 30/98 Vauxhall. Remembering that the title of the organising club is Vintage Sports Car Club, I looked...

Three Stages in the Life of an Edwardian Racing Car

Perhaps the most enjoyable of all vintage car events is the annual V.S.C.C. Welsh Rally, which this year occupied the week-end of October 4th-5th, and attracted the excellent entry of seven Edwardians and 57 vintage cars. On the Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., competitors converge on the Welsh border town of Presteigne, sending telegrams to prove that they have covered the maximum required...

A Section Devoted to Old-Car MattersThe Non-Pom. Silverstone (March 11th) Everything was set for another good Pomeroy Trophy contest of the VSCC at Silverstone this year, this being an ingenious event evolved by the late Laurence Pomeroy and constituting an effective memorial to him. He quite seriously planned the rules and tests to provide an indication from among the entrants of which is the...

Veteran - Edwardian - Vintage

A Section Devoted to Old-Car Matters The V.S.C.C. Welsh Week-end (October 5th/6th) This traditional fixture ran true to form, with 93 entries, of which 26 were content to tackle the Saturday driving tests and Concours d'Etat and 67 braved the 200-mile run to Presteigne on the Saturday and the trial on the Sunday. As usual, crowds turned out to watch. As usual the local Police were most helpful....

VSCC Herefordshire Trial

Although the VSCC arranged for fine sunny weather for the popular Herefordshire Trial on February 5, it could not arrange for the 15 hill-sections to be dried out after a week of heavy rain and snow. Consequently, this was a tough event for a change, which is no bad thing, and those I spoke to had enjoyed it. Observing at "Moffat's Meander", it was evident that this was to be no simple meander...

Veteran to classic miscellany

VSCC's Top Trial I think it fair to say that most of the entrants, 93 this year, regard the VSCC Welsh Trial, involving a run-in of 200 miles to the Sunday start on the Saturday and then 13 interesting and now traditional hill-sections on the Sabbath, as the high-point of this Club's trials session — unless the Lakeland Trial comes higher on their agenda. Since the thing was first mooted back in...
