Chelsea AutoLegends

Historic Racing News

This Sunday September 2 sees the third annual Chelsea AutoLegends, held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital. The event is a celebration of style in automotive and motor sport history, with over 500 road and racing vehicles on display.

“From Formula One down,” said organiser Max Wakefield, “Britain houses some of the best engineers and builders of race-cars and race businesses in the world. The industry creates employment for both practical and academic minds, for individual craftsmen and multimillion pound companies. Our brilliance in this field should be shouted from the rooftops and heard by the many – and, where better to do this than the capital city and The Royal Hospital?”

Exhibitions this year include Stars’ Cars and ’70s Cool, as well as displays of  Formula 1 and Le Mans racers. The contributions of women in motor sport will also be celebrated.

A new addition to the event will be the Techno Park, which will concentrate on British engineering innovation. The patron of the Park will be former Minister for Science and sports car owner-driver Paul Drayson.

For 2012, the festival will be supporting Armed Forces charity Walking with the Wounded.
