Team-mates clashing, drivers blowing their top in interviews and the championship battle hotting up – that’s right, the F1 Fantasy rollercoaster gets more intense than ever this weekend in Silverstone.

The Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and have set the pace in 2025 British GP practice, but can they maintain it in changeable conditions for qualifying and the race?

Mercedes had a stinker in Austria, while McLaren was back to its dominant best.
It all poses big questions heading into Silverstone.

There’s little to worry about though, as Motor Sport has the definitive guide to making this week’s choices.

Oscar Piastri had scored the second-most Fantasy points in 380 to Lando Norris’s 388 this year, but costs $5.4m less, making him the no-brainer lead pick for the pukka teams.

For the drivers behind him, it’s battle of the bargain buys. Ollie Bearman has scored 10th-most Fantasy points with 82 so far this season – largely by virtue of qualifying poorly and fighting back in the races.

He costs just $6.9m though. So get him in! Many have already heeded this advice, as he’s owned by 43% of players, but even more have Isack Hadjar (57%).

Value-for-money Hadjar costs the same as Bearman, and is also a solid Fantasy points scorer. He’s looked fast in Silverstone practice too, so could be on for another good result.

Speaking of Racing Bulls, Liam Lawson had his best result of the season with sixth in Austria, but somehow managed to depreciate in value and now costs only $4.5m. With the Kiwi appearing to have got his eye in and, like his team-mate, looking fast in Silverstone, we’d recommend buying.

Last but not least is an F1 legend: Fernando Alonso. Valued at $5.7m, the Spaniard chalked up a solid seventh in Austria. With an upgraded Aston Martin, he could do even better at the British GP.

McLaren is still the constructor to choose with a stunning 932 Fantasy points, almost twice as much as nearest challengers Ferrari. It’s worth the $33.3m.
Mercedes has 69 points less than Ferrari, but costs $4.4m less. It’s an easy second choice.

Which F1 Fantasy chips should I use?

There’s a chance of rain this weekend at Silverstone, often an action-packed race even in the dry.

We’d therefore recommend the No Negative chip, preventing you from any minus scores due to retirements and the like.
