The next F1 race will be the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix on October 26 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, as the American leg of this year’s F1 calendar continues.

The final part of the year consists of a long-haul schedule that began in Singapore then takes in North and South America, and the Middle East, as the battle for the drivers’ title comes to a head.

F1 calendar: season run-in

The final part of this year’s F1 calendar mirrors the 2024 season, with an extended run in the Americas: Austin, Mexico, Brazil and Las Vegas precede the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi — another triple header to bring the year to a close on December 7.

When is the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix?

This year’s Mexico City Grand Prix takes place on Sunday October 26 at 8pm BST (2pm local time) as a standard race weekend. That means that there are two practice sessions on the Friday and another on Saturday, followed by qualifying.

Where is the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix?

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is the highest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar, at 2,238m above sea level, where the thin air enables cars to reach the highest speeds of the year of around 225mph. But the resulting lack of downforce cuts cornering speeds, and the reduced air density makes cooling a problem.

The circuit hosted its first grand prix, a non-championship event, in 1962 when it was marked out by the fearsomely fast 180-degree banked Peraltada where local hero Ricardo Rodríguez was killed in practice for the race. It was renamed in honour of Ricardo and his brother Pedro after the latter also died in a crash, nine years later at Germany’s Norisring.

The current layout, on the F1 calendar since 2015, cuts the Peraltada in half: where cars previously entered the corner, they now swerve right and into the stadium section before joining the corner for just 90 of its 180 degrees.

In recent years, it has been a fortress for Max Verstappen who has win three of the past four races there. Will he continue his championship comeback in Mexico?
