The next F1 race will be the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 21 at the Baku street circuit, marking the end of the European season in this year’s F1 calendar.

The final part of the year consists of a long-haul schedule that takes in Singapore, North and South America, and the Middle East, as McLaren looks to secure its second consecutive constructors’ championship, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri battle for the drivers’ title.

Following on from Monza, Baku will once more offer drivers a high-speed blast down the 1.4 mile-long straight, but will also face the narrow and twisting Old City section; a combination that demands a well-balanced car.

F1 calendar: season run-in

The final part of this year’s F1 calendar mirrors the 2024 season, with races in Baku and Singapore before an extended run in the Americas: Austin, Mexico, Brazil and Las Vegas precede the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi — another triple header to bring the year to a close on December 7.

When is the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix?

This year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix takes place on September 21 at 12pm BST (3pm local time) as part of a standard Formula 1 grand prix weekend, with two practice sessions on Friday September 19, and a final practice session before qualifying the next day.

Where is the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix?

The Baku street circuit joined the F1 calendar in 2016, and has remained on the calendar ever since (except for 2020); running at high speed close to the coast on the Caspian Sea, and threading its way through the narrow streets of the Old City.

It can lead to plenty of drama, whether that’s as a result of an epic solo drive — such as Daniel Ricciardo’s charge from 17th in the race to victory in 2017 — a calamitous high-speed miscalculation — see Daniel Ricciardo (again) spearing into Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen in 2018 — or from the gruelling nature of the track, which has seen Verstappen retire from the lead with a tyre blowout, and several drivers hit the wall at the narrow Old City entrance.
