The next F1 race will be the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix in three weeks’ time on July 27 at the popular Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

It gives teams a mini break following on from the dramatic British Grand Prix, and will be the final race before the long summer break when factories must shut down to allow staff a fortnight off.

Belgium will host a sprint weekend when the action is more frenetic than usual: there’s just one practice session rather than the usual three, and competition begins on Friday afternoon with sprint qualification, ahead of the sprint race on Saturday morning, where the top eight are awarded championship points; the winner getting eight.

Summer season

Following the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 6, there’s a three-week gap to the Belgian Grand Prix, followed by the Hungarian Grand Prix on August 3. F1 then takes a summer break until the Dutch Grand Prix on August 31.

Season run-in

The final run-in mirrors the 2024 season, with races in Baku and Singapore before an extended run in the Americas: Austin, Mexico, Brazil and Las Vegas precede the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi — another triple header to bring the year to a close on December 7.

When is the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix?

This year’s Belgian Grand Prix takes place on July 27 on a sprint weekend, where Friday practice is followed by qualifying for the sprint race. The sprint takes place on Saturday morning, then the weekend reverts to a standard format, with Grand Prix qualifying on the Saturday afternoon and the main race taking place at 2pm BST on Sunday.

Where is the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix?

Spa-Francorchamps is one of F1’s most historic circuits and first hosted a grand prix in 1925, using the old nine-mile layout, which evolved into a faster, more fearsome layout by the time the World Championship began in 1950.

After multiple deaths and serious injuries, the layout was shortened to the layout that has largely remained the same to the current day. It remains an exhilarating experience for drivers, although modern downforce levels have made the sweeping Eau Rouge-Raidillon section less of a challenge.
