Murray Walker: Royal Automobile Club Talk Showby Web Editor on 30th July 2019
Murray Walker joins the latest podcast to talk about his F1 highlights, working with James Hunt, and retiring before the social media age
To mark the opening of the new 'Murray Walker' television room at the Royal Automobile Club, Formula 1's best-known commentator recalls the insightful, entertaining, and downright hilarious moments of his career, in a podcast in association with Motor Sport.
Listen to his memories of working with James Hunt - and the tussles they had for the microphone; why he never sat down during a race; and the reason he doesn't think he would have survived as a commentator in the social media age.
The 95-year-old opened the Royal Automobile Club's television room, which commemorates his 23 years of Formula 1 commentating, and contains memorabilia from his career.
In the podcast, Walker explains the choice of each object, which include an Indianapolis brick, given to him as a lifetime achievement award and a Mike Hailwood picture, representing Walker's passion for motorcycling.
